Orlando love! It really is a great city to live in. So many good restaurants, music, plus my favorite little neighborhood coffee shops and bars.

Orlando love! It really is a great city to live in. So many good restaurants, music, plus my favorite little neighborhood coffee shops and bars.

My most recent adventures in food. A delicious massaged kale salad with pine nuts and pecorino cheese that I saw made on The Chew while i was stuck on the couch nursing a hangover. What is it about a hangover that makes me want to eat healthy? Second, an amazing feat- the first pancake in my batch of buttermilk pancakes was the best one! Normally that’s the one you burn or accidentally flip out of the pan. And last I baked a brown Irish soda bread. It didn’t turn out great unless you like huge, bland croutons. Two wins and one fail ain’t bad!

DIY blackhead strip style face mask fail!  No matter what Pinterest tells you, do NOT make a mask out of plain gelatin and milk and put it on your face.  Your face will smell of hot milk (more than a little unpleasant) and when you try to peel it off, all of your blackheads will remain in your face but all your tiny invisible face hairs will be stripped away and it hurts like a bitch.  Also while the mask is drying you can’t move your face without seeing the weirdest wrinkles ever.

I couldn’t be happier for the new East End Market to be making it’s way closer to completion.   Truth be told, one vendor was added to the list much to my chagrin and makes me wanna ralph a little emotionally and mentally, but aside from that I truly count the days til the doors opening! I’m on Team East End Market!

Pretty excited to have a market like this. Especially a local Florida flower shop!

A timely reminder ahead of the spring bloom that just because something’s pretty, it doesn’t mean you should pick it! Casual passersby can have a major impact on wild plant populations, often because seeing something growing nearby suggests that the plant is “common.” But not everything threatened is kept behind a fence in a nature preserve. —MN

The Sea Daffodil (Panacratium maritimum) is an endangered member of the family Amaryllidaceae. Native to the Mediterranean and the southern shores of the Black Sea, the Sea Daffodil grows in sandy dunes just above the high tide line. Its flowers have a very subtle fragrance that only becomes apparent on windless summer nights.
Due to its increasing rarity, it has been given protected status in much of its range, but continues to lose vital habitat to tourist development.
Sadly I saw many tourists picking it during my last visit to Greece.  :(
This picture was taken by me on Laganas Beach, in Zakynthos, Greece on 8/31/11.

Enjoy nature where it is. No need to pluck it up and horde it.
